winter is looming, the cape is dark early and light late. nights are cold and the leaves have almost stopped falling from the trees.

the smell of decay from the ground rises with the warmth it creates. And most importantly, the surf has been great. october had some magical days for me with one day producing three stand up in and out barrels. to get one barrel in a day and make it out for me is magical. Three, that's a dream, and it was true and i felt great for a few days afterwards replaying it in my head.

been clean for over 2 months. really helping out every aspect of my life. a lot of clarity, and a lot of fun. Shoulda done this years ago!

summer of reunion

a lot of people seem to be getting back together. for me, the biggest reunion is the jane's addiction with eric avery on bass. this is important to me cause i was a teenager going through puberty listening to jane's till i graduated high school in 1991. i listened to them so much, i dreamt their music.

the band broke up in 1991, and as doors closed all around me, new doors opened. and here we are, 18 years later, a whole lifetime for me since 1991 since i was 18 then. its good to have them back to spark those memories of those tumultuous years of high school.

Holidays

Please let them end. Why is it so stressful to have to celebrate something that is suppose to bring peace and cheer and merriement? I am grateful that i got to watch my son enjoy eating wrapping paper. kids.

its been a very interesting fall with plenty of surf to go around.

this pic was from a fun day at a spot i go to a lot when the waves warrant some point break surfing.

i've surfed all over the world and still enjoy surfing close to home more than anywhere i have traveled. the question is where is home? when california was home, i never longed for waves in new england. oh well. new england is home and i get the best it offers and it is good.

other good news, jane's addiction is back together and i am pretty excited about it. they were the band i grew up listening to, the soundtrack of my high school early college years. Hopefully, like they did in the 80's they will bring back the feeling of watching art unfold in front of your eyes. sublime art.

september's silence

well, its here and we all look forward to it. Silence. Everyone is gone. the hordes have left for NY, CT, etc.

what it means to me more than any sense of relief is anticipation. I look forward to cape hurricane swell. And we are getting it.

haven't surfed since

march 10th. thats a relatively long time. since then, i have had my first baby and dislocted my ac joint in my shoulder. i think the baby has kept me out of the water, not so much the shoulder.

looking at my baby fills the void that is usually filled by suring.
